C&A Residence

+ View Project Info

This contemporary/transitional build in North Asheville sets a high standard for energy-efficient living, providing an eco-conscious sanctuary where comfort and sustainability go hand in hand. The lot that was once the site of a derelict house, now proudly presents a home that resembles the architectural vernacular of the surrounding neighborhood, but with design elements unique to itself.

Taking advantage of the sloped property the design combines three levels, dividing the main house among the upper floors, while providing a full apartment on the lower level. Inside structural beams are exposed, becoming a prominent feature that adds natural warmth, but also defines functional areas of the home’s open floor plan. The homeowners are delighted to enjoy the outdoors through the inclusion of a generous front porch, covered decks, and a dining patio.

The C&A residence has a Net Zero Energy rating, incorporating a combination of Energy Star appliances, ultra-efficient 20SEER HVAC equipment, robust insulation, and a rooftop solar array. Aside from the energy-efficient features, the home’s construction adheres to sustainable building practices recognized by the Green Built Alliance awarding the project a Gold Level certification.
